
Bishop Dr. Carla A. Dunbar was born in Kingston, Jamaica and later moved to the Parish of Portland at age eleven (11). After getting married and accepting the Lord, she subsequently served the Church of God of Prophecy for 21 years as Senior Pastor and National Family Life Director. She now serves as the founding Bishop of Life Temple Ministries International located in Temple Hall, St Andrew. She is happily married to Mr. Canute Dunbar, a union that produced four children – two girls and two boys. The couple now celebrates 44 years of marriage and ten (10) beautiful grandchildren.
Bishop Dr. Carla Dunbar holds a BA in Theology, a MA in Counselling Psychology, a PhD in Marriage & Family Therapy, and is a Licensed Sex Therapist. She is also a Certified Professional Life Coach and Media Consultant. Bishop Dr. Dunbar was conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in The Humane Letters and awarded Fellow of the Most Excellent Order of International Expert-(FOIE) in the field of Marriage & Family Counselling at the 2017 graduation of CICA International University & Seminary. In 2018 she received the prestigious award for Ecumenical Leadership, Civic Engagement and Marriage/Family Unification in the Caribbean, UK, and USA during the 48th staging of the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington DC where she addressed the Caucus on Sexual Repression and the Church’s Response.
She is the Director of Carla Dunbar Ministries International and Principal Director of the Grow Your Marriage Academy and Ministry (GYMM, GYMA) and Counselling Care with offices across the island of Jamaica in Kingston, Mandeville, Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios. Her Counselling service is further extended to the Caribbean diaspora via Online Platforms. She serves the country as a Justice of the Peace in the parish of St Andrew and is also the Co-chair for the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Consultative Committee (PCC) for Domestic Violence.
Dr. Dunbar is the Author of three (3) books: CHANGED…The Journey; “SEXCRIPTION: A Prescription for Sex;” and her 52-Week Couples Devotional. Her passion for marriage and the family continues to propel her to fulfill her mantra of ‘Rebuilding Jamaica One Marriage at a Time”. She loves the Lord passionately and humbly enjoys helping persons resolve life’s issues.
